Established in 1913, Bucharest University of Economic Studies (ASE) is a research-intensive university that organizes study programs and scientific research in the fields of Economic Sciences, Administrative Sciences, Juridical Sciences, Sociology and Humanities.

Students are offered the opportunity to pursue a full academic path by attending Bachelor’s, Master’s, Doctoral and Postdoctoral study programs. In addition, ASE organizes continuing training programs, teacher training programs, postgraduate programs, as well as MBA and EMBA study programs. ASE has 13 Faculties, whose more than 23,000 students can attend study programs in Romanian, English, French or German: 25 Bachelor’s programs, approximately 75 Master’s programs, Doctoral studies in 10 fields, and more than 145 postgraduate continuing education programs. The university employs about 800 teaching and 750 administrative staff.

Within the education-research-innovation triangle, ASE aims at covering a wide range of subjects, with the main focus on maintaining an active position in the policy-making process in Romania, by providing decision makers with up-to-date research in issues regarding the current problems faced by the community. ASE continuously improves and develops its curricula in an effort to improve the quality and relevance of its higher education. In addition, it has an extensive experience in managing international projects having been beneficiary and partner in: Mobility projects–Socrates-Erasmus (1998-2007), LLP Erasmus (2007-2013) and Erasmus+ (2014-2024) –KA1 mobility projects as well as KA2 strategic partnerships–, GRUNTVIG Projects (2011-2013), operational programs financed through the ESF-Development of Human Resources, Horizon 2020 projects and other various Interregional projects. ASE has experience and expertise in international project management, international communication, and partner engagement. Thus, in the last 10 years, we have had over 390 projects (of which over 40 international projects) with over 30 million euros in funds attracted.

ASE has joined numerous university or research networks, including EUA, UNICA, BSUN, EGPA, CEEPUS, among others, and started three years ago the AACSB accreditation process.

Bucharest University of Economic Studiesis the most important university of economics and business administration in Romania. It is also the most important institute for education and research in tourism and in agrifood business, through his Faculty of Business and Tourism, respectively the Faculty of Agrifood and Environmental Economics, with a great research expertise in this field.

The Faculty of Business and Tourism is offering a modern educational curriculum, adjusted to the European Union higher education’s requirements, in the field of Business Administration, preserving in the meantime the ongoing national tradition. Interdisciplinary approaches are aiming to be connected to that of the major economic schools of commerce, commodities and quality management, tourism and services, both in the EU and worldwide.

The Department of Tourism and Geography, one of the two departments of the faculty, includes 25 professors, with huge expertise in tourism field, mainly economy and management of tourism, ecotourism, rural and agritourism, management of tourism destination, hotel and restaurant management, business ethics for tourism, strategic management for tourism, tourism geography and geopolitics –which at the same time represent courses addressed to undergraduate, master’s, doctoral or postgraduate students.

At the Faculty of Agrifood and Environmental Economics, there are several bachelor, master and postgraduate courses to improve knowledge in entrepreneurship and sustainable development, which include aspects also related to the agritourism sector, such as: Ecology, Entrepreneurship in agrifood and environmental sectors, Economy of tourism, Environment economics, Sustainable development, Food economy, Farm management, Agromarketing, Ecomarketing, Performance and risk management in agrifood, and Environmental Organisations.
